In an interview to The New York Times, actor Daniel Radcliffe, who played Harry Potter in the movies, said he was not infected by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The actor, who is not on social media, was caught by surprise when he found out, beginning of March, that there were some fake news that he had gotten the disease.
Radcliffe heard the news through his make up artist, while he was preparing to go on stage in the play Endgame, which was showing in London but had to close because of the pandemic.
“I don’t know what that makes me feel, to be honest. It’s just, like, odd. I read somewhere that they said I was a perfect person to do it with because I don’t have social media, so I can’t see it and respond immediately”, he said.
Precaution
Although he was not infected, Daniel Radcliffe said he was scared and was making sure to follow the authorities orientations as how to prevent from getting the disease, avoiding greeting people in the traditional way.
“It’s just a lot of feeling like you are being incredibly rude,” he said. “Sometimes you’ll go to do an elbow thing and somebody will look at you, as if, ‘Come on, are we really doing that?’ and I have to reply, ‘Yes, I’m sorry, I’m really paranoid about it, I don’t want to get sick and spread that around’”, he said.
Quarantine
At the time when the interview was done, which was published on March 20th, the actor planned to go back to New York, USA, to spend quarantine with his girlfriend, actress Erin Darke, watching movies and playing board games.
Radcliffe has been dating Darke for over eight years. They met at the filming from Kill Your Darlings, where he played the poet Allen Ginsberg.
