Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was listed as one of the 100 essential books written by women on the last 100 years. The book won over other books from the Harry Potter series that were also running. The voting happened during the last three months and readers themselves sent the nominations.

The list was announced at Hay’s Festival, an annual literature and arts festival that this year honored the contributions of women to the literature, celebrating the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote.
