Forbes released last week “The 2017 Forbes list of the world’s highest-paid authors” and [J.K. Rowling] is back at the top, after not having occupied this position for almost a decade.

To elaborate the list, Forbes considers printed and e-books sales, movies and TV earnings and expert industry opinion.

Rowling’s earnings have been boosted in the last year due to the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them premiere, movie for which she wrote the script, and to the release of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which sold over 680 thousand copies only in the first three days in the United Kingdom. Besides, Bloomsbury Publishing, responsible for the Harry Potter series in the UK, released, this year, illustrated versions of the first books of the series to celebrate the 20 years of the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

In the last three years the top of the list was occupied by James Patterson (Alex Cross series), that appears in the second position this year. Aside from Patterson and Rowling, some of the authors in the list are: Jeff Kinney (Diary of a Wimpy Kid), Dan Brown (The Da Vinci Code), Stephen King (It), Paula Hawkins (The Girl on the Train), EL James (Fifty Shades of Grey) and Rick Riordan (Percy Jackson & The Olympians).
