The Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, located in the Leavesden Studios, where all the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films were made, will open classrooms for student groups who visit the studio.
Besides visiting the studios, students will participate in 45 minutes classes about cinematographic tricks and will have access to props and costumes used in the filming. The classrooms will be equipped with high definition screens and tablets with interactive activities. The classes will not be available for regular visitors to the Studio Tour.
Sound and Math
One of the classes talks about the importance of sound in films and shows the Foley artists – those who are responsible for sounds in a film, such as doors shutting and spells. These artists use many tricks, such as walking on sea salts to represent the character’s steps sounds whilst walking on snow.
The students will also participate in the “Cinematographic Math” class, where, for example, they will learn how Hagrid, played by Robbie Coltrane, was transformed from his normal 1,85m height to a half-giant measuring 2,59m using mathematical tricks.
Harry Potter Tour
The Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter was opened in 2012, on the studios J and K in the Leavesden Studios, where all films from the Wizarding World were filmed.
Besides visiting the places were props and creatures were created, fans are able to visit sets such as The Great Hall, the Diagon Alley, Privet Drive and the train which was transformed in the Hogwarts Express on the big screens. In their last update, the Gringotts Bank set was added.
Tickets for visitors must be purchased in advance through their official website. They are not sold at the studios. One of the most popular options for London visitors is using a transfer from the King’s Cross Station – where, in the Harry Potter books, Hogwarts students board to the Wizarding school.
