“The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” at Universal Studios Hollywod will be opening on the 7th of April this year. Last Tuesday, the writers Carolina Munhóz and Raphael Draccon, our correspondents in the USA, had the opportunity of seeing the theme park in an exclusive press-only tour.
Alan Gilmore, Supervising Art Director of the park, guided the tour, and we were able to ask him a series of brief questions during our route, as you can watch in the video we shot for our YouTube channel:
Carolina Munhóz outlines the experience:
“You feel like you are entering the same park as in Orlando, but you realize it’s something way cozier; it’s a rather smaller park, with one less ride, but the shops are more welcoming. Universal Studios are located on top of a mountain, so that provides an amazing view to those riding the Flight of the Hippogriff rollercoaster – there is a surprise to this ride, but we can’t tell. In addition, a shop for hats and robes displays Cho Chang’s real dress in an exhibition. Definitely one of the highlights is the Hogwarts Express’ compartment with real props from the movie that fans can take pictures with.”
Raphael Draccon, in turn, notices that “Alan Gilmore really paid attention to every detail and did the best he could to make justice to Hollywood.”
“We loved the experience. This is the third Harry Potter-themed park, so, as writers, it’s wonderful to see how far a story can go, to see hundreds of people working with such dedication and care in something that came out of a book,” the couple adds.
Keep an eye on our website and social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and PotterishSnap), for we will have more content on these new attractions that are sure to delight all Potterheads!
Have you ever been to any Harry Potter theme park (Orlando or Japan)? Do you intend to visit the one in Hollywood? Tell us all about it in the comment section!
