In 2019 and 2020, fans will be able to watch the actors who played their favorite Harry Potter characters, who will be back on big screens in surprising roles.

Whilst Daniel Radcliffe (Harry) dubs a Playmobil figure and Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort) voices a Lego, Robert Pattinson (Cedric) plays an English king and Gary Oldman (Sirius) a murderer. Below, POTTERISH lists all these movies by their release date.

Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort):

  • The Lego Movie 2: The second part

Ralph Fiennes dubs the butler Alfred Pennyworth in the animation inspired by the Lego toys. For the past five years, everything was great for all Lego citizens, but unexpectedly, they will have to face another threat: alien invaders “Lego Duplo”. The film is in theaters in the United States. Watch the trailer:

Gary Oldman (Sirius):

  • Killers Anonymous

Gary Oldman stars along with Jessica Alba (Sin City, Fantastic Four). The plot follows a group of murderers who are placed in a dilemma when a senator is killed, as the suspects are members of the same team. The movie hits the cinema in the United States on June 28th.

August

Daniel Radcliffe (Harry):

  • Playmobil: The Movie

Daniel Radcliffe plays Rex Dasher in the film inspired by the Playmobil toys. The movie is going to be released on August 29th, in Germany. The film was directed by Lino DiSalvo, who was also responsible for 101 Dalmatians and Frozen. Watch the trailer:

Domhnall Gleeson (Gui Weasley):

  • The Kitchen

Domhnall Gleeson plays Gabriel O’Malley, a Vietnam veteran who worked as a murderer for New York gangsters but had to flee the city to avoid the police. The film, which will be released on August 9th, 2019 in the US, is an adaptation of a comic book published by DC Comics. The story is set in 1970 when the FBI searched Hell’s Kitchen, a neighborhood in New York, and with the men being arrested, their wives and girlfriends have to take over the place and end up doing a better job then the men.

September

Maggie Smith (McGonagall) e Imelda Stauton (Umbridge):

  • Downton Abbey

In the movie inspired on the TV show with the same name, Maggie Smith returns to her iconic role as Violet Crawley, Condess of Grantham and biggest matriarch in the Crowley family. Imelda Staunton plays Maud Bagshaw, a lady-in-waiting to Queen Mary, and the estranged cousin of Lord Grantham.

The TV show, which aired on the British network ITV from 2010 to 2015, followed the Crowley family and their staff at the beginning of the XX century. The film will be released on September 20th, 2019 in the US. Watch the trailer below:

Michael Gambon (Dumbledore):

  • Cordelia

In this thriller, Michael Gambon plays Moses, one of the story’s main characters. Last decade, Cordelia was a promising actress, until an event changed her life forever, leaving her full of guilt. The movie follows the actress during a weekend with her twin sister, Caroline (Antonia Campbell-Hughe) and her boyfriend, Matt (Joel Fry). While they try to keep their regular routine, she starts unveiling some misteries and, while trying to keep her weak mind together, she questions herself whether certain events are real. The movie opened in February at Berlin’s International Festival and premieres in France on September 25th.

Gary Oldman (Sirius):

  • The Laundromat

Gary Oldman plays Jurgen Mossack in this Netflix production. The movie tells the story of a group of journalists that investigate millions of files, gathering the world’s most famous political figures to bank accounts that are used prevent paying taxes. The cast counts on other big stars such as Meryl Streep (Mamma Mia!, The Devil wears Prada), Antonio Banderas(The mask of Zorro, The 13th Warrior) and David Schwimmer (Friends). The movie premieres on September 27th.

October

David Thewlis (Lupin):

  • Guest of Honour

David Thewlis plays Jim, Veronica’s – a young high school music teacher – dad. In the drama, they try to unfold their own stories and secrets, exploring themes such as perception, penitence, memory, and forgiveness from the moment Veronica is arrested under the suspicion of abuse. The movie premiers on October 2nd.

  • Eternal Beauty

David Thewlis plays a failed singer named Mike. He is Jane’s (Sally Hawkins) romantic partner, who, since abandoned at the altar, has a crisis and goes through schizophrenia that lasts 20 years. Things change after she meets and starts dating Mike. The movie premieres on October 8th at the London Film Festival.

Michael Gambon (Dumbledore):

  • Judy

Michael Gambon plays Bernard Delfont, a famous London play producer. In 1968, showbiz legend, Judy Garland (Renée Zellweger) arrived at the British capital to perform at the Talk of the Town, a club created by Bernard Delfon, which got famous for being the stage for big music stars, such as Frank Sinatra. It has been 30 years since Judy was in The Wizard of Oz filmings, and ever since her voice weakened but her dramatic intensity has risen. The movie hits the cinemas on October 4th in the United Kingdom.

Gary Oldman (Sirius):

  • Mary

Gary Oldman stars the movie, but details about his characters were not yet revealed. A family sailing in isolated waters discovers the ship they bought holds terrifying secrets. The movie premiers on October 11th.

November

Robert Pattinson (Cedric):

  • The King

Robert Pattinson plays Luis, the Duke of Guiana, on a film that shows Henrique V’s (Timothée Chalamet) father, who dure to the succession line, is crowned king and is obliged to command England. To do so, he has to come of age quickly to keep the country safe during the 100 years war, which happened during the Middle Age, from 1337 to 1453 and had as a goal to conquer over France. The movie premiers on November 1st, 2019 in the United States.

  • The Lighthouse

Robert Pattinson will be one of the main characters in this horror/fantasy movie shot in black and white. The movie tells the hypnotic and hallucinatory tale of two lighthouse keepers on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s. The movie will be released on November 28th, 2019 in the US.

[Ralph Fiennes] (Voldemort):

  • Official Secrets

Ralph Fiennes plays Ben Emmerson, a British lawyer specialized in the European Convention on Human Rights, International Law, and International Criminal Law. After spending years working as a Mandarim-English translator, Katherine Gun (Keira Knightley) became worldwide famous after exposing the National Security Agency’s confidential secrets. She was able to prove that there was great pressure so the countries voted in favor of the Iraq invasion in 2003. The movie, directed by Havin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), opened on January 28th, 2019 at the Sundance Festival and premieres on November 21st, 2019 in the USA.

December

Domhnall Gleeson (Gui Weasley):

  • Star Wars – The Rise of Skywalker

Domhnall Gleeson returns as General Hux in the last chapter of the new Star Wars trilogy. The movie will be released on December 20th, 2019. The Rise of Skywalker will see the Resistance face the First Order once more, and the end of the ancient conflict between the Jedi and the Sith.

[Emma Watson] (Hermione):

  • Little Woman

Meg (Watson) and her sisters – Jo (Saoirse Ronan), Beth (Eliza Scanlen) and Amy (Florence Pugh) – need to come of age while the United States go through the Civil War (1861-1865), which aimed the end of slavery. The film directed by Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird) will be released on December 25th, 2019.

Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy):

  • Dr. Birds Advice for Sad Poets

Jason Isaacs plays Carl. In an emotional loaded, wild and humorous world, James Withman, 16, the spectator watches his fight to overcome anxiety and depression looking for Dr. Bird’s (an imaginary pidgeon-therapist) advises. The movie premieres in 2019, but no date has been released yet.

  • Resistance

Clémence Poésy plays a girl named Emma. The movie tells the real story of a French mimic, Marcel Marceau, who worked with the French Resistance to help saving orphan lives during the II World War. The movie premieres in the United States on January 1st, 2010.

Gary Oldman (Sirius):

  • The Woman in the Window

Gary Oldman plays Alistair Russell in the movie. Dr. Anna Fox (Amy Adams) is a reclusive alcoholic who spends days in her apartment in New York watching old movies and her neighbors. When the Russell family moves to the building across from hers, she starts spying on what was supposed to be the perfect family, until she witnesses a shocking episode that changes her life. The movie will be released on May 15th, 2020 in the United States.
