The New Yorker production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child broke once again the record of play with the highest weekly collection in Broadway’s history. The Broadway League, the Broadway Producers Association, revealed that between December 24th and 30th 2018, the production gathered US$2.525.850,00.
The previous record, US$2,3 million, was broken for the third time on Thanksgiving week. Previously, the record had been broken in April, when the play officially opened in New York.
An analysis on sales claims that producers didn’t raise the tickets price for VIP seats to enjoy the high season at the end of the year. They also did not allow standing room tickets, which is common on Broadway.
A smashing hit among fans and critics, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is playing at the Palace Theater in London, and at the Lyric Theater in New York. In January 16th, the play will open at the Princess Theater in Melbourne, Australia and at the Curran Theater, in San Francisco, USA. In 2020, the play will get its first translated production in Hamburg, Germany.
