Warner Bros. Pictures announced, on Pottermore, that the filming for the Fantastic Beasts‘ sequel will start this Monday (03) morning, at the Leavesden Studios, in England.
The film, which will be set in New York, London and Paris, will bring the return of the first film’s quartet, once again played by Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol and Dan Fogler. Ezra Miller, as Credence Barebone, and Zoe Kravitz, who made a quick appearence as Leta Lestrange, will also return, as well as Johnny Depp as the villain Gellert Grindelwald, who will be comfronted by Jude Law’s Dumbledore.
Pottermore introduced four new characters for the sequel, and Warner Bros. revealed the first plot details:
“As he promised he would, Grindelwald has made a dramatic escape and has been gathering more followers to his cause — elevating wizards above all non-magical beings. The only one who might be able to stop him is the wizard he once called his dearest friend, Albus Dumbledore. But Dumbledore will need help from the wizard who had thwarted Grindelwald once before, his former student Newt Scamander. The adventure reunites Newt with Tina (Katherine Waterston), Queenie (Alison Sudol) and Jacob (Dan Fogler), but his mission will also test their loyalties as they face new perils in an increasingly dangerous and divided wizarding world.”
Directed by David Yates and written by J.K. Rowling, the sequel for Fantastic Beasts still does not have a title, but is set to be released on November 16th of 2018. Until then, the Blu-ray and DVD editions of the first film are already available, as well as the printed version of its screenplay.
