Two days after debuting on Broadway, the New York production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has received 10 nominations to the Outer Critics Circle Award. The Award is one of the most important on Broadway and works as a preview for the Tony Awards, the Oscars for theater.
The play was nominated in the following categories: Outstanding New Broadway Play, Outstanding New Score (Imogen Heap), Outstanding Director of a Play (John Tiffany), Outstanding Choreographer (Steven Hoggett), Outstanding Scenic Design (Christine Jones), Outstanding Costume Design (Katrina Lindsay), Outstanding Lighting Design (Neil Austin), Outstanding Projection Design (Finn Ross and Ash Woodward), Outstanding Sound Design (Gareth Fry) and Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play (Anthony Boyle, who play Scorpius Malfoy). The play is up against classic and new productions such as My Fair Lady, 1984, Frozen – The Musical and Angels in America.

The Outer Critics Circle Award, which is on its 68th edition, is presented by the official organization of writers on the New York theater for over 90 media vehicles, including newspapers, magazines, radio and TV stations and the internet. Winners will be announced on May 7th and the awards will be presented to the winners on a ceremony on May 24th.
