The production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child announced the releasing of Harry Potter’s wand replica used by the actors in the play. It is different from the one used by Daniel Radcliffe in the movies.
Before, it was only available for purchasing the wands of Albus Potter, Scorpius Malfoy, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley. Along with Harry’s, they are sold at Harry Potter store at Kings’s Cross and at the stores of the Palace Theatre, in London, for 32 pounds, Lyric Theatre, in New York, for 45 dollars, and the Princess Theatre, in Melbourne, Australia, for 65 Australian dollars. It is also possible to buy online, at the play’s stores from London, New York, and Melbourn.
The wands were created during the play’s rehearsals, which premiered in London in 2016. Set designer and one of the responsible for the design, Christine Jones told Pottermore that she observed the actors before creating the objects.
“I would like to think that I was able to draw upon their spirits to merge with the qualities of the characters they portrayed, and funnel the auras of both into the design”, she said. We wanted all the wands to feel hewn of wood and handmade. Many of them were lovingly carved by a whittler our marvelous properties person, Lisa Buckley, found living on the edge of a field.”
With 32 centimeters, Harry’s wand was inspired by trees. The design remains to roots, to symbolize the deep connection with the family and his renowned heart.
