A new teaser of the game Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, to be launched in 2019, was released on Wednesday (14). The video, entitled Discombobulated Niffler, shows Muggle children watching the animal, which is collecting golden coins inside an arcade.
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is going to be an augmented-reality game for smartphones. Free, the app provides to the users the chance of interacting with the environment around them. The official game website says that the Wizarding World is under the risk to be exposed, and Wizard learners are being called to enlist a Task Force of the Ministry of Magic with the purpose of keeping the muggles away from the Wizarding World. The game mechanism promises to be similar to its augmented reality predecessors, using localization data and allowing the player to explore the environment while collecting items, as well in Pokémon Go.
Other teasers were released in 2018. The videos show magical objects at large in the Muggle world, indicating that the players will have the task of catching these objects before Muggles see them.
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is being developed by Niantic in partnership with Warner Bros. and its new sub-brand, Portkey Games. There is no exact date for the game’s release, but the users can already register themselves in the website to receive news at first hand.
