Lumos, NGO founded by [J.K. Rowling], announced the release of an exclusive pin, available in limited quantity, based in Newt Scamander’s wand. The money raised will be reverted to charity institutions.
The product is only available to people living in Europe, the US and Canada. It can be bought in the NGO’s website or in the Fantastic Beasts: Wizarding World Wands installation, and it costs for £5,99. Made with fused zinc and nickel plated, the pin will only be available until December 31st 2018.
Purchases made until October 31st will compete for a pair of tickets to the British premiere of Fantastic Beasts: the Crimes of Grindelwald.
Lumos helps children and teenagers who live in orphanages to return to their families. The writer created the NGO taking into consideration that life at orphanages harms the well-being of a child. “A child that grows up in an orphanage is ten times more likely to be involved in prostitution, forty times more likely to have a criminal record, and five hundred times more likely to commit suicide”, explained the writer in an institutional video.
