On the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts, 2nd of May, [J.K. Rowling] went to Twitter to apologize for killing the controversial Professor Snape.
OK, here it is. Please don't start flame wars over it, but this year I'd like to apologise for killing (whispers)… Snape. *runs for cover*

The apology sparked strong reactions among fans, with opinions deeply divided when it came their feelings about the character.
This was not the first time J.K. has apologized for killing a character. In 2015 she apologized for the death of Fred Weasley and last year she confessed to have cried when writting about Lupin’s death.
