The shooting of the third film from the Fantastic Beasts series, which was scheduled to start on March 16, was postponed due to efforts to restrain the pandemic of the new coronavirus (Covid-19), according to the news portal Deadline.
Besides Fantastic Beasts, Warner Bros. also interrupted the filming of King Richard, in Los Angeles, and The Batman, starred by Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz. The downtime must last at least two weeks. An Elvis Presey’s biography also had its shooting interrupted after Tom Hanks, who portrays the singer’s manager, was tested positive for the disease. There is no estimation when it is going to restart.
Moreover, the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child were interrupted around the world. All parks from the Universal Studios, where Harry Potter theme parks are located, are also closed, as well as the Warner Bros Studio Tour, in London, where Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films were shooted.
Other touristic attractions, where there is a great circulation of tourists, such as all the Disney parks around the world, also interrupted their operation until the end of March.
Loss
The premiere and shooting of several films were also postponed and movie theaters are being closed around the world. According to the American magazine Variety, the box office of last weekend has been the worst in 20 years, in the USA and Canada, one of the biggest box office from the film industry.
