The Harry Potter and the Cursed Child production on Broadway announced new auditions for all the characters in the play. According to the announcement, tests will be done for possible replacements roles.
Most characters don’t require any special characteristics, besides being over 18 (including for Hogwarts students) and look like their characters ages, such as 37 and 40 for the trio, Ginny and Draco Malfoy. One of the only exceptions is Harry Potter himself, whom according to the announcement cannot be taller than 5’10. The actors auditioning for Albus Potter, Scorpius Malfoy, Rose Granger-Weasley, Delphi Diggory, James Sirius Potter, and other students cannot be taller than 5’7.
The actors interpreting Professor Bane and Hagrid should be 6 inches and 6’2 or taller, respectively. For professor Bane, it is also required that an actor with huge upper body strength and be well toned.
The production also looks for children (who should not be taller than 4’11) to play Lily Luna Potter and young Harry Potter.
The auditions took place at the Ripley-Grier Studios, in New York, on February 6th, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Actors should take a picture and a CV.
The selected actors will probably be part of the third cast for the play in New York, once the rehearsal to replace the original cast started in January. The opening for the new cast will happen on March 20th, 2019.
