With the impending premiere, the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has given information about ticket orders, including prices and important dates. Firstly, the fans who wish to buy tickets need to sign in to the Ticketmaster Verified Fan program between October 1st and 5th on the play’s official website.
The program works in order to verify that only real fans have access to the tickets, avoiding that they are sold out only to robots and re-sellers who sell them at a higher price. The producers of Cursed Child have taken similar measures in London, canceling resold tickets and refusing the entrance of people who owned them.
Those verified as real people will be randomly chosen to receive a link for the buying of the tickets. Tickets will be released for the preview sessions (between March 16 and April 21, 2018) and the normal ones (starting from April 24) until November 2018. The orders, previously announced to start on October 12, will be placed from October 18 on.
As part of the effort to keep the play accessible to all, the production has also announced that the tickets will cost from U$20 to U$189 per part during the previews and from U$20 to U$199 per part during the normal performances.
Besides, Broadway will also have Friday 40, a program that, every Friday, makes 40 tickets available at reduced for the following Friday’s performances.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child premiers at the Lyric Theater in New York on April 24, 2018, after its success in London, according to the public and the critics. The complete main cast will return to their roles on Broadway. The play, which has received a record number of Olivier Awards, including Best Play, Best Direction and Best Actor (Jamie Parker as Harry Potter), has been shown in the English capital since July 2016.
