The producers of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child revealed that the play is getting a new production in Toronto, Canada. The eighth story of Harry Potter premieres in Canada between September and November 2020. The cast has not been revealed yet.
The new version will be played at Ed Mirvish Theatre, placed in Toronto downtown. The theater, opened in 1920, accommodates 2,200 spectators and has already received productions such as The Phantom of the Opera and Wicked.
The production will be presented by Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callender and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions, company created by J.K. Rowling, in partnership with the Canadian producer David Mirvish.
This will be the sixth production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The play is at the theaters in London (England), New York (the United States) and Melbourne (Australia) and is hitting the stages of San Francisco (the United States) on December 1, 2019, and in Hamburg (Germany) between March and May of 2020.
Based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Throne and John Tiffany, Cursed Child broke awards records in London, including the Best New Play on the Oliver Awards, the most important theater award in England, besides records of audience in New York, where it got six Tony, the most important theater award in the world.
