After airing adaptations of The Cuckoo’s Calling, Silkworm and Career of Evil, British TV channel BBC ordered another four episodes of Strike, which will adapt the fourth book of the series, Lethal White. The books are written by J.K. Rowling under the pseudonym of Robert Galbraith.
Set in London during the 2012 Olympic Games, the plot follows detective Cormoran Strike (Tom Burke) and his partner Robin Ellacott (Holliday Grainger) investigating the mystery of a mentally unstable teenager who believes to have witnessed a murder as a child.
The script for all four episodes will be written by Tom Edge, who was responsible for the adaptations of Silkworm and Career of Evil.
There are still no information regarding the possibility of contract renewal with Cinemax, channel of the HBO group that produced the first three seasons and was responsible for the exhibition in countries such as the USA and Brazil. According to Deadline, the decision is yet to be taken since the channel executives haven’t read the book, which is the longest of the series so far and was released three weeks ago.
In the United Kingdom, the first seven episodes aired between August 2017 and March 2018, with an average audience of eight millions viewers per episode. There is no release date for the fourth adaptation. A Brontë Film & TV production, Strike is also produced by J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts and Elizabeth Kilgarriff.
